Busy Bees

That’s what Mr. Aidan and I were this weekend. Between doing laundry (yup, still getting caught up on all the boxes full of clothes that were sitting for 6 months. We, um, have a lot of clothes. And I do mean WE.), making our weekly trip to Wal-Mart (We go there so often that Aidan literally can read the word Wal-Mart. Although it kind of sounds like Ma Ma, but you get the idea…) and other household things while Dan was working, we made a trip to Illinois for my friend Ashley’s housewarming party and went to the zoo! Poor Aidan didn’t get much of a nap in either day, so I’m really hoping he makes up for it tomorrow so I can get a little bit of work done.

Well, plans have changed for me, and I am remaining a full-time photographer/stay-at-home mom. And Aidan will just have to settle for his mommy instead of a new school…Without getting into crummy details, let’s just say the economy is horrible, and the position no longer exists. End of story. On to new things. Hopefully more shooting! I’m in the works to schedule mini-holiday sessions. Stay tuned.

I can’t remember if I already posted about it, but my camera came back! Oh how I missed it. Welcome back baby. Aidan was actually quite cooperative this weekend while I tested it out, so I have many to show! Here’s one of my favorites from the housewarming party we went to on Saturday. Congrats again Ashely! We’re so happy for you!

Without further ado, here he is. Mr. Aidan John Welch. Aaaah. Eye contact AND a smile. What did I do to deserve that? Maybe he felt sorry for me because I turned 30 Friday. ;)

More from a family shoot

I showed a tiny preview last week, but I just can’t get over how adorable baby Collin is. He actually kind of reminds my of Aidan, with his deliciously chubby cheeks and little (nearly) bald head.

Grant’s Farm

Here they are – a bazillion shots from Aidan’s first trip to Grant’s Farm. We had so much fun! If you haven’t been – check it out. I think they close at the end of October, and they’re only open on the weekends now. I know they’re also having some Halloween fun nights though.

Not sure what this look was for – we were riding the train!

Aidan wondering if he should touch the little creatures.

Ok, I’ll just feed them myself, Dad.

Ba Ba?!

One of Aidan’s favorites – horses! “Hor Hor”

I know he’s thinking – “Mom, what the heck is that thing and why is it looking at me!?”

Mmmm. Who doesn’t love Dippin Dots?

Various Dippin Dots colors running down the little guy’s chin.

Elephants kissing?!

“Bir Bir!”

Please bite someone else.

And, as much as Aidan adores horses, we couldn’t let Aidan leave without his very own Clydesdale. He’s already sleeping with the thing, and he gives it kisses all the time.

Hello Mr. Camel

In a last-decision on Sunday, Dan, Aidan + I went to Grant’s Farm. It was Aidan’s first trip, and he loved every single second of it. From the camels, to the goats, and best of all, the Clydesdales, our son was in heaven. The child loves animals – just adores them. The entire time he was saying, “Hi moo moo (when he thought something was a cow),” and “Hi hor hor” (that’s Aidan speak for horse), and “Ride. Ride! More ride!” everytime he saw the train.

I have a zillion photos to post, but it’s late, and I’m having website issues, so I’ll end this post with just one image. (More tomorrow!) But this is a fun one!

What a helper

Yesterday when we woke up, Aidan and I were working on packing (what else???) So I asked him to pick up some of his Legos so we could get started, and this is what he did for me. Climbed up into his chair, grabbed a book and ignored every single word I spoke to him. Aaaah. What a helper.

Just 2 more weeks

At home with Aidan…I can’t believe I’ve had the amazing opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom for 6 months. It’s been difficult and wonderful, and I can’t believe it’s about to end. I’m excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to see where it takes me…And I’ll continue to use this time to help my photography business grow here in the St. Louis area. I’m thrilled for what the future will hold for our family. Everything is finally falling in place.

I’m savoring these last few days with my son. He continues to amaze me with his adventurous spirit, his vast vocabulary, and his lightening quick stride that he has developed. If he didn’t have a football player’s build – like his dad – I’d say he was going to be a track and field star. Maybe he’ll play baseball, it’s much much safer.

I’m trying not to fret over the boxes that remain in our bedroom and the office, not worrying about the clothes that need to be washed because they were packed in boxes for 6 months – I’m just enjoying every little smirk, every little “hi mama,” for the next few days. But I know he’ll enjoy himself at daycare. He is very social, and I know he can’t wait to be around all the other children his age. He’ll have a blast!

Zachary’s Playground at Hawk Ridge Park

Ok seriously people, if you have kids and you live in St. Charles County, you should go Zachary’s Playground! This is by far Aidan’s favorite park. I even think it’s kinda cool. There’s sooo much to do, and they have a nice big fence around the entire thing, so it’s easier to contain crazy energetic children like Aidan. We went on Saturday for an hour and a half. Aidan would have been content to stay there ALL DAY. Here’s a shot from his favorite tunnel slide. Is that a happy face or what?

Sneak Peek: Tysa, Barry and Collin

I had an engagement/family session Tuesday night – finally! We were rained out last week, but I was so happy to get the chance to finally photograph this adorable couple and their baby (who seriously is one of the cutest babies I’ve EVER seen). They were such a blast to work with, and I can’t wait for their wedding next month!

Nana time

Yesterday, between digging ourselves out of a sea of boxes (the movers arrived with our stuff on Monday!), I had a photo shoot with an adorable family. I’ll have a sneak peak of that later. My mom was nice enough to come to the park where I was shooting to entertain Mr. Aidan for a while, and I know that’s no easy task. Even though he was exhausted and feeling a little under the weather, he was going like the Energizer Bunny. My poor, poor mom. And because he’s getting taller, his legs are longer, and he is faster. And that means adults have to run to keep up with him. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like next year. Yikes!

Playing in the weeds

Aidan and I went out for a little adventure yesterday during the 2 seconds it wasn’t raining. We went to a field right next door to our new place. I don’t think he cared for it much – what do you think? ;)

Aidan is such a trooper. He really has quite easily adjusted to all the changes in our lives during the past 5 months. He’s sleeping better than ever now that we have an actual home for the 3 of us. I think he likes having his own room, and for some reason, he actually likes sleeping in his Pack N Play. He’s grown so much that he barely has any room, but he doesn’t fuss at all! I think he likes the familiarity of it because he was sleeping in there when were staying with my mom for a few months.

Until next time….

I am not turning 30 – ever!

So I don’t really know what’s wrong with everyone. People keep asking me about my birthday and talking about this “30″ stuff. But, I’m not really sure what they’re talking about. Because I plan on being 29 for the rest of my life! Is there anything wrong with that? Just because I my birthday is only 23 days away means nothing! I’m just re-celebrating last year. :0 Now you have the memo. You may now proceed with your regularly scheduled programing.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Is this thing on?

Sorry, I’ve been a horrible blogger lately, but that’s because we’ve moved! Finally! We couldn’t be more excited to be progressing in our new lives in the Show Me State! We’ve been super busy, but here is a shot of Aidan and one of Dan. We were on the deck enjoying the evening thunderstorm.
