A day in the life… (St. Louis kids photographer)

This is a day in the life of my 2-year-old son, Aidan. We did not leave the house today. After our crash yesterday, I had no desire to drive anywhere, so we had an oh-so-exciting day at home. Aidan and I decided to document it for you, out of sheer boredom! ;)

(In Aidan’s words…)

I started the day off riding my horse like a maniac and making one of Mommy’s favorite Aidan faces.

Then it was time for my new favorite show, Dora the Explorer. It’s not really Mommy’s favorite. Too bad for her!

Then she made me put on the mask for my breathing treatments. That was not much fun, so I just kept taking off my mask.

Then I decided to ponder the meaning of life for a while.

Then mom made me wear this hat and held me hostage for a few pictures in my room. My girlfriend, Katherine, gave me this hat when we lived in Texas.

After that, Mommy got in a special shot of the 2 of us for our 52-week challenge. This is week 3. We’re a little behind, but we’re still hanging in there!

Then I was getting really tired at the end of the day, and Mommy went in my room to get my jammies. In those 5 seconds, I decided to help make coffee. I think I made a little mess. Do you think she’ll notice? Then I snuck off to bed. Night, night people…

Guardian angel

I must have one. There’s no doubt about it. Today Dan, Aidan and I were heading to Mills Mall on 370 when I hit a slick patch of road and ended up doing 360s all over the highway. I saw my life flash before my eyes, and I kept anticipating impact from the cars/trucks around us. But it never came. Instead, we crashed “safely” into the side barrier on the highway head-on. We were all fine. Aidan didn’t even cry. He just sat there acting like it was a normal drive in our “Pathy.” The damage to our car is completely insignificant.

Tonight, my little boy sleeps soundly in his bed. Safe and warm. Thank you, guardian angel, for keeping us all safe.

A trip to the ER

Poor little Aidan had a simple little cold – a runny nose + cough for just a day. I dropped him off at my mom’s house while I met several clients yesterday, and I came back to pick him up and he was wheezing and coughing up a storm. We brought him home and gave him a breathing treatment and put him to bed. It’s been nearly a year since he’s had any treatments or medications – that’s one of the lovely benefits of staying home with him versus sending him to daycare. There aren’t any little kids to catch colds from. Well Dan and I have joined a gym, and Aidan has started going to the gym while we workout, and I’m assuming he caught  a cold from one of the children there. Aidan’s colds quickly turn much worse because he has asthma.

At about 10 he woke up gasping for breath, crying and shaking. It was a mother’s worst nightmare. We quickly gave him another breathing treatment and took off for the ER. We were there several hours while they gave him some steroids, more breathing treatments and monitored him. We were an exhausted family when we arrived home at about 3 a.m.

This morning we refilled his prescription, and he seems to be doing pretty well. But it was a very scary night for all of us. He hasn’t had an episode like this since I was alone with him in Texas when he was about 7 weeks old and Dan was deployed. I was so glad to have him with me last night. So keep our little guy in your thoughts.

I know I owe several of you emails and phone calls, and I promise I’ll be taking care of all that later this evening. Plus, I’ll have little Kendall’s photos up, too.

Hope everyone had a great, safe weekend. Stay warm.

Sunny days

After so many dreary, cold days, Aidan and I are thrilled to see some glorious sunshine and a hint of warmth in our days. After living in Texas for 5 years, I guess we became accustomed to the sun and heat. I really loved the cool days during the holiday season, but now we’re ready for spring! Bring it on!

I was finally able to take Aidan to the park yesterday, and while we were there, Aidan gave his “new, new bike” a spin. I’ll have some pics from that later, but just wanted to throw up a sweet shot of my lil guy really quickly. Must get back to editing baby pics!

Baby Kendall ( St. Louis children’s photographer)

I have the great pleasure of taking portraits of Miss Kendall today. She’s the daughter of a dear friend, and let me tell you she was a photographer’s dream. She barely fussed the entire time. She cried a little bit when she was cold, but as soon as we had her snuggled and warm, she was such a trooper. I can’t believe she’s already 5 weeks old. What a great way to spend an afternoon – photographing a darling baby girl. I took photos of little Kendall when she was just born. You can see them HERE. And I also did her mommy’s maternity pictures, which can be seen HERE. :)

Here’s just one for tonight. Many more to come!

A sleepy Aidan is a snuggly Aidan. And it’s the ONLY time he will cuddle like this. I live for these moments.

New sample album! (St. Louis wedding photographer)

It seems like I’ve been waiting forever! But my new sample album is here, and I love it. I hope all my clients do, too. I’ll definitely be sticking with this company, and I hope to order more samples to show off their fabulous cover options! The leather is amazing, and I love the texture!

This flushmount sample album is from a gorgeous wedding I shot back in October. There are so many upgrade options available, like this cameo on the cover and the 2-tone leather. Contact me for more details! Isn’t it yummy?

This 30-page flushmount album is now included in Wedding Collections III and IV. Just check out the Wedding Info page on my website for more information about collections. And feel free to email me with any questions about the flushmount albums, too.

And I love the green packaging!!!

Aidan has a new do! ( St. Louis children’s photographer)

You may have noticed in the picture of us both, but YES, Aidan got his hair cut on Friday at the fabulous children’s salon, The Hairy Elephant! (They have 2 locations – 1 in O’Fallon and the other is in Ballwin. We highly recommend them! I had them go really short, with a little bit of spike in the front. And oh my, does he look so much older now! I think he looks handsome though. He laughed when she was buzzing the hair around his neck.

52 weeks: Aidan and me

I’m giving this a go again. Hopefully I’ll do better this year than last year. The objective is to take a picture of the 2 of us every week for 52 weeks. Here we go with week 1. Hopefully I’ll make it to week 2!

(And no, he really wasn’t picking his nose! Sorry this was the best of the bunch. Working a self-timer is HARD work, but I have a remote on the way!)

The Little Gym | St. Louis wedding photographers

Today was Aidan’s last day of the semester at Little Gym. He loves going, and we’ve been a member for nearly a year now. It’s hard to believe! Today was what they call “Show Day”. They make a little routine and get a medal. Really cute stuff. Aidan had a blast. Thanks for looking.

Ru + Mark : A St. Louis wedding

On Friday, I had the pleasure of shooting my first Hindu wedding. One of my oldest and dearest friends had a Hindu ceremony several years ago, so this was not my first to attend. But it was my first time as the photographer, and it was such a great experience. Thanks to Ru and Mark for inviting me to share their day. They were married at The Hindu Temple of St. Louis, which has a glorious exterior. Unfortunately for me, the actual temple was closed, but I imagine it’s just as beautiful as the exterior. Perhaps one day I will have the opportunity to see it.

Here’s their sneak peek!

Catching up

Here are a few more photos from Aidan’s 2nd birthday. I can’t even begin to tell you how many toys this child has after Christmas and his birthday. He had SO much fun, although, I think he thinks unwrapping presents is an everyday occassion. “More presents?” He asks. Um, no, baby. Not for a while.

He loved the cow Auntie Rachel gave him.

He was so excited when everyone started singing “Happy Birthday” to him.

Yes, we gave him chocolate cake again and let him do what he wanted with it. Not quite the mess he made on his 1st birthday.

I love how excited he got over the Playdough. And look at Rick’s face, too. He was MORE than happy to give it to him. I see many messes in our future. Thanks Rick and Lois. ;)

Group picture time with Oma, Grandpa, Daddy and Rachel.
