Re-enlistment at Busch Stadium (St. Louis photographer)

Last week, Dan, Aidan and I had a great opportunity to go on the field at Busch Stadium where a Navy friend of Dan’s re-enlisted in front of everyone. It was a super cool experience, and I was thrilled he asked us to go! Dan + Tom met back when they were deployed to GITMO and have stayed in contact. It helps that Tom is stationed in St. Louis…Aidan REALLY loved meeting Fred Bird, and squealed every time he came by. Lots of hi-fives were had.

Dan and I took Aidan to a Cards game last year, but it was just for a few innings. He really didn’t enjoy being confined in a seat. This game probably would have been similar, except Aidan didn’t get a nap and was exhausted. It made for a much easier time for mom and dad. LOL. We made it through about 6 innings and then had to leave, but Aidan still talks about the game. “Member went to baseball game?” he asks. Oh yes, I do. It’s so great to experience these moments with my son. Even though the stadium is new, the experience is the same, and I always loved going to baseball games as a child. Sitting there with my wonderful husband, my amazing little man, eating hot dogs and enjoying an afternoon Cardinals game….What more could I ask for? Not much, I tell you. That’s my kind of day. Especially when the Redbirds win! Go Cards! And congrats to Tom!

Manda + JR: An engagement session (St. Louis wedding photography)

Wow. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve blogged. Sorry about that, especially since I have SO much to share! I’ll start with an amazing couple. I’ve known Manda forever. Our moms have been friends since high school. (Which is a REALLY long time. Hee hee.) I had never met JR until our session in Columbia last week, but to see the two of them together is just amazing. They’re both really sweet, genuine people who just seem to love life and having fun. They were really open for anything and everything during our session, and I had such a blast. We’re thinking about having a second session because we didn’t have time to hit up my old alma mater, and I’m really looking forward to it.

For the first part of the session, we headed out to Cosmo Park. I honestly can’t remember ever going there, but what an awesome playground they have! Aidan had a blast with Dan while I was shooting. He did NOT want to leave. Cosmo Park is where JR proposed to Manda. How sweet is that?! They say the video is on YouTube, so I’ve got to go check that out….When we were done at the park, we headed downtown for some urban shots. I love these types of shoots. They’re my absolute favorites, and I loved the outfits they chose. Very them. I had a blast you guys! Thanks again.

Crazy fun (St. Louis wedding photographer)

Today was crazy. That’s the best description I could come up with. But it was such a GOOD crazy. We woke up this morning (late! at 6:30 a.m.), got showered and dressed, and then we headed out to watch a friend of Dan’s re-enlist ON THE FIELD at Busch Stadium. How cool is that? Totally cool. You should be jealous. BUT, you can see some photos I took tomorrow. Then, Aidan, Dan and I headed out to Columbia, MO, (GO TIGERS!), where I had an engagement session with the wonderful Manda and JR. I think I’ve known Manda since, well, since she was born. I can’t believe she’s getting married!!! More about our adventures tomorrow because I’m about to pass out. Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday.

Backtracking….(St. Louis wedding photographer)

You may have noticed that when I get busy on the business side, my personal stuff takes a backseat. And that may be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who YOU are. ;) BUT, I couldn’t NOT post a photo of my handsome little guy on his easter egg hunt. All by himself. Poor guy. Next year, hopefully we can find some friends to hunt with him. And can I just say that I love “little man” outfits?!

And here are my brother and sister doing what they do best. Act crazy. Bwhaahahahahahaha. Love you guys!

Where do I begin? (St. Louis wedding photographers)

Saturday was a weird day. I had an engagement session scheduled with a really fabulous couple. I was bummed when I woke up to another dreary day in St. Louis. During my drive to the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the sprinkles became a downpour. So I called up Paula and asked if she still wanted to do the shoot or did they want to reschedule. She said they wanted to go ahead and do what we could – they had umbrellas. That was cool with me, so we get there, and the rain stops! Then we get into the Botanical Gardens, and we get stopped by someone who works there saying that we have to pay a special fee to shoot portraits/weddings there. I had NO idea. I had just shot an e-session there a few weeks ago, and no one said a thing. And you can’t shoot past 3 p.m., so even if we had paid the fee, we weren’t going to shoot there. So we headed down the road to Tower Grove Park. Let me just say that I love the city of St. Louis. Despite all its faults, I really do love the city, and I wish we lived there. I am embarrassed to say I’ve never photographed anything at Tower Grove Park. I’ve barely driven by. Certainly have never gotten out of my car. I’ve seen pictures on the internet. It’s gorgeous!!! Seriously. Why haven’t I been there before?!

So we took some photos there, made a little duck friend, and headed over to Forest Park where it was wedding central! I can’t begin to tell you how many wedding parties we saw out there….Despite all the chaos of the day, this was one of my all-time favorite shoots. Paula and Nick are really wonderful people on the inside and outside. Not only did they chose the PERFECT attire for their day, they’re so much fun to be around. They truly were up for anything. Especially Nick. He even climbed a tree during our shoot! These pictures are all them. There was VERY little direction, they’re just naturals in front of the camera.

And I have to say that I was thrilled we took some shots by the Art Museum in St. Louis because that’s where they had their second date. It’s actually a funny story because Paula told me that Nick is a terrible planner. On that date, they went after Nick got off of work. By the time they arrived, the museum had closed. They ended up sitting in the car for that date. Now Paula does all the planning. That’s probably a good thing….Toward the end of our shoot, Paula hopped on Nick, and he took her for a ride down Art Hill. I just snapped away laughing hysterically the ENTIRE time. (Seriously. I should probably be embarrassed at how loudly I was laughing.) I just thought to myself, “Are you kidding me? This is amazing.” And it was. Thanks Paula + Nick for entertaining me so much. I had a fabulous time, and I can’t wait for your wedding in September. I know it will be fabulous!

Can I just throw in here really quickly how lucky I am? I get to meet wonderful new people all the time, I get to share in the joy of the best day of their lives, I get to do what I love. It in no way feels like a job, it’s just a complete joy, and I love the satisfaction of driving home after a great shoot knowing I’ve made some pictures that these people will (hopefully) treasure forever. I’m so, so, so lucky.

This shot was not set up – totally candid moment. How sweet is he?

They made a little friend who followed them everywhere!

My favorite moment of the day. Hands down.

I’ve gotta give mad props to Paula for pulling this jump off in those shoes! I totally would have fallen flat on my face.

Dancing at Forest Park. Aren’t they an adorable couple?

I told them they should be in a magazine. And I meant it. They’re gorgeous!

Family picture time (St. Louis weddings)

I hope everyone had a great Easter! Things have been a little nuts here, so I’m late putting up pictures. Here’s a quick one of our little family. We haven’t had a picture together in ages. I can’t even get Aidan to do our weekly take-a-pic challenge because he just screams, “No more mama cam-ra!” He wasn’t smiling for this one, but at least he was screaming, either. Easter egg hunt pics will be up tonight.

On a quick business note, I’m just about booked for weddings in September and October. It’s going to be a crazy 2 months! I only have 1 date available in each month, so if you’re thinking contacting me, please do it soon! :) I really hate to turn people away.

Heather + Dan: Wedding (St. Louis wedding photographers)

I love St. Louis. I was born here, and I’ve spent most of my life here. Being able to photograph couples starting their lives together in a place I love is always a joy. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like discovering new places. Well this past weekend, I had that opportunity. I took a 2-hour drive out to small town of Centralia, IL, to photograph Dan + Heather’s beautiful wedding…

The moment I met Dan + Heather, I could tell they were meant for each other. They’re the kind of couple that everyone oooh’s and aaah’s over because they’re always kissing, hugging, cuddling. Especially during their engagement session a couple of months ago. Heather said she knew Dan was the one from the very beginning, and her parents told her he was a keeper.

It was a joy to capture the events of your wedding day, you two. I wish you all the best, and hopefully in the near future, you’ll be asking me to photograph those little ones you are already talking about. :)

I was super lucky to have Paula, of Lightsource Photography, join me to photograph this wedding. She captured this last-minute hair haircut for me. Love it!

Miss Kelsey ( St. Louis wedding photographer)

I know. I was supposed to have this post up days ago. I’ve been swamped with meetings and clearing out my inbox, ordering prints as well as preparing for a wedding this weekend. (Yay!) It’s a good busy, but it hasn’t left me much time for blog posts. So here it is. The fabulous Kelsey, my beautiful niece. I was so thrilled for some sun, and I think she did a great job modeling for me. Thanks, Kels! I can’t believe how much she looks like her mama. Kelsey looks just like her mom when she was younger. It’s insane. I often had to stop myself from calling her Michelle. Where does the time go? Just yesterday, Michelle was 13, and I was 11, and we went around our neighborhood handing out babysitting fliers. (Uh, yeah. Nobody EVER called us. Jerks.) Now I’m taking pictures of her 13-year-old daughter. Aidan better NEVER turn 13. ;)

My lil sweetheart (St. Louis wedding photographers)

Yesterday, I had a really awesome shoot with my niece, Kelsey. And guess who got to come along? Mr. Aidan. And did he cooperate in the slightest? Uh, nope. I even bribed him with an icee, hence the purple lips. I even had him secured in his stroller, but he managed to escape every single time. Grrr. He’s lucky he’s cute!

Oh, and you may notice the new ‘do. Right before I left for Indy, he decided to climb up on a stool in the kitchen to get Daddy’s gum. And that gum ended up in his hair. I couldn’t be too mad though. I did that a million times when I was a kid, too.

Miss Molly: A Newborn Session (St. Louis wedding photographer)

This newborn session took about 4 hours, and included lots of rocking, shushing and patience by her mommy and daddy. We got a few shots in the beginning, and they almost gave up, but they stuck with it, and FINALLY, we got that sweet little girl to go to sleep. And let me tell you, she is gorgeous. She has amazing skin, especially for a newborn. And her lips are to die for!

Newborn super sneak peek (St. Louis baby photographer)

What a crazy, fun week this has been! I had my trip to Indianapolis, several meetings with brides, and today I had a newborn shoot with an ADORABLE baby girl. Needless to say, my schedule has been all mixed up, and I’m not doing so well with eating right and exercising. I went to the gym only once, and that was in Indy at the hotel. In my defense, though, I did sprain my knee last week during my team workout, so that’s made it super difficult to do much of anything. I’ve decided I’m not even going to weigh in this week, BUT, tomorrow I’m getting back on track. Promise.

Now, on to baby fever. This little sweetie is 5 weeks old, and let me tell you, she gave her mom, her dad and me a run for our money this afternoon. She has colic and did not want to sleep. She wanted to cry. I felt SO bad because she and her parents drove in all the way from Kansas City to get her picture taken. Thankgoodness her parents were patient enough to stick it out for many hours, because at the VERY end of the day, she decided to cooperate and take a nap. And those pictures turned out to be the best ones of the day. I’ll have more tomorrow, but for now, I’m going to post one and then go pass out in my bed after a crazy week. Happy Friday all…

Nicole + Michael: An engagement session (St. Louis wedding photographer)

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately. I just returned from a quick trip to Indianapolis with a bunch of photographer friends. I didn’t have much time to get on the internet, but I did do some shooting. I can’t wait to share it with you, but that will be saved for another day…And let me just say it was really hard to be away from my little guy for SO long. That was the longest Aidan and I have ever been apart. Eeeek!

Last weekend, after the snow melted, the sun came out just in time for me to shoot an engagement session with a Nicole + Michael. This couple had me laughing the entire time we were shooting – they’re the kind of people that immediately feel like old friends, and I love that. They’re so much in love with each other, and it was SO much fun to capture that love as we walked around the MO Botanical Gardens. I can’t wait for their June wedding – it’s going to be a blast!

This processing is quite a bit different from my normal style, but in this case, I thought it fit the mood of the picture…

During our shoot, Michael took Nicole back to the very spot at which he asked her to marry him. Isn’t that romantic?!
