Just wanted to post a little update on my computer situation…since it’s preventing me from blogging. GRRR! I’ve had some calibration troubles during the past couple days, so I haven’t been able to do ANY editing. I’m sorry for everyone who’s waiting for a blog preview right now! (Especially Chris + Sarah!) Thanks for being patient, and I hope to get it all figured out ASAP.

Where have I been?! Shooting. And shooting. And shooting some more. This is a CRAZY time for me, but I’m doing my best to keep up with everything on my gigantic TO-DO LIST. It’s only about 10 miles long. Despite all the chaos that is my life right now (Have I mentioned we’re moving? Like in 8 days! Yikes!), I consider myself SO lucky to be doing what I’m doing. Because I love it. All of it. Each and every single day. And I’ve been lucky to have amazing couples to work with this year, and I can’t wait to show all my blog readers what I’ve been up to. But first, a long overdue blog post about the amazing wedding of Ying + Chen. There gorgeous ceremony took place at the Clayton Artists’ Guild. (Have I mentioned how much I love outdoor weddings?! They make my heart go pitter patter.) I loved photographing this couple because their love is utterly obvious. They show it all the time – check out their engagement session from a couple months ago. Especially Ying – she’s so expressive, and I love that.

I really liked the picture of this little guy. It’s as though he’s so proud of the job he’s doing – holding up Ying’s dress. Isn’t he adorable?!
I don’t shoot a LOT of posed shots. Some yes, but not a ton. I’m more into documenting your day than directing it. BUT, I love me some walking shots! (Even in full sun!)

I first met this wonderful couple several months ago when I photographed their engagement session. It was one of my favorites EVER, and I knew that their wedding would be amazing. They both have incredible taste…Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Every single detail of this wedding was spectacular. From her shoes + dress, to the flower girls attire, to the candles, place holders, everything was just amazingly gorgeous. And anybody who knows me knows I LOVE shooting outdoor ceremonies, especially right before sunset, so shooting Nick + Paula’s wedding at sunset at the Chandler Hill Vineyard in Defiance was like a dream! No kidding, it wasn’t even like working. It was just SO much fun capturing it all. Just ask my lovely + talented second shooter, Paula Bathon, of Lightsource Photography. We were like kids in a candy store the entire day.
Oh, and I just have to add that last night Paula (the photographer, not the bride), sent me a message through Facebook saying how ironic that the bride and groom were Paula and Nick, and the photographers were Paula and Nikki. Ironic, eh? I think it was meant to be. LOL. It was such an honor to document their day. They are so much in love, and I wish them all the best. Right now they’re enjoying their amazing honeymoon, and when they come back, we’re shooting a day-after session. Can we say wooot woot? I can’t wait.

One of the funniest things that happened was the flower girls who did NOT want to stay on the aisle runner. They made their own route. LOL. And can I add that I adore Nick’s suit…I wonder if he picked it out…

We had some amazing light. I know it looks almost as though I had a soft focus effect going on, but it’s all natural.

I have to say that it was amazing to see the staff of Chandler Hill quickly transform the winery from a public place, to a venue perfect for a private event like a wedding. It was seamless and amazingly fast. Kudos to them!
My favorite part of the day was when Nick sang Paula a song during the reception. I believe his brother wrote it. So touching.

On Sunday, I had the honor of shooting one of the most beautiful weddings ever. The location was AMAZING! I have so many more to share, but here’s one for now.
About a year ago, Diane made an appointment to meet with me. I was JUST starting wedding photography full time, and she was one of the first clients I met with after moving back to St. Louis. I think I had one little tiny coffee table album to show her at the time. And she booked. Right away. I adored her from the start. Several times in the year since then, we’ve emailed a few times, talked on Facebook once in a while, and her sister leaves wonderfully sweet comments on my blog about other weddings. Then came Diane’s big day, and let me tell ya, she’s one of my favorite brides ever. Not only did she have a great sense of style (LOVED her Maggie Sottero dress + her flower in her hair), but you know what she told me about 100x that day? I’m up for anything. Seriously? The girl sat in wet grass, went anywhere I asked, and had scoped out fabulous locations for her pictures. And she scheduled PLENTY of time for her photos. Who could ask for more? Josh + Diane are honestly one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with, and their families were just as wonderful. It was an honor to work with you guys. Thanks SO much for letting me share your day!
