Heather + Dan: Wedding (St. Louis wedding photographers)

I love St. Louis. I was born here, and I’ve spent most of my life here. Being able to photograph couples starting their lives together in a place I love is always a joy. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like discovering new places. Well this past weekend, I had that opportunity. I took a 2-hour drive out to small town of Centralia, IL, to photograph Dan + Heather’s beautiful wedding…

The moment I met Dan + Heather, I could tell they were meant for each other. They’re the kind of couple that everyone oooh’s and aaah’s over because they’re always kissing, hugging, cuddling. Especially during their engagement session a couple of months ago. Heather said she knew Dan was the one from the very beginning, and her parents told her he was a keeper.

It was a joy to capture the events of your wedding day, you two. I wish you all the best, and hopefully in the near future, you’ll be asking me to photograph those little ones you are already talking about. :)

I was super lucky to have Paula, of Lightsource Photography, join me to photograph this wedding. She captured this last-minute hair haircut for me. Love it!

Week 8: Aidan and Me (St. Louis portrait photographer)

So we’re just going to skip those few weeks we didn’t do a photo. Aidan has come to hate it! I’m going to have to find someone to take our picture for us because he will NOT sit still for the self timer. I do need to buy a new remote….wait for it………………………..FOR MY NEW CAMERA! I’ve been waiting a while for this puppy, and it finally arrived yesterday! My new D700. It was love at first sight. Anyway. Here’s our picture.

AND it’s time to weigh in! I weighed in this morning at the gym after our crazy trekking class. Let me be the first to tell you, that is the most challenging, yet motivating class ever! It’s just running intervals on the treadmill for about 45 minutes, but they blast really fun, pumpin kind of music the entire time, and everyone is SO motivating. It’s such a blast, and the class was packed this morning. Anyway, so I went to weigh in afterward, and I’m down 5 pounds. So, I’ve lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. Craziness. (I use that word way too often, sorry. I can’t stop!) I’ve just still been eating super healthy foods and living at the gym. I figured I might as well, since Dan is gone and everything…And it’s good for Aidan because he adores playing with the other kids, and it’s great for him to spend a little time away from Mama. I was thinking every week when I weigh in, I would post a little tip that’s helping me be successful. Maybe it’ll help somebody else, too!

So this week’s tip is the Biggest Loser Family Cookbook. There are so, so, so many great recipes in there, and they’re all low in calories and all very healthy. The other day I made the Hula Pizza. If you’re a fan of the California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chicken Pizza, you’ll love it! Basically you cook a whole wheat tortilla in the oven for 2 minutes, flip it, cook it for another 2. Take it out, put on about 2 tbspns. of low-carb BBQ sauce, add some goat cheese, pineapple, and anything else you want. Then cook that for a few minutes, and voila! An EXCELLENT dinner. And I think it was only about 250 calories. I added some chicken and onions to it, so it was probably more like 350, but it was a great meal. So there ya have it. My weekly tip. Anyone else want to share? I’ve received so much encouraging feedback, mostly via email, from friends and clients who say they need to lose weight. So my challenge to you is to post how/what you’re doing here! It’ll help you get accountable. :) We can motivate/help each other. Come on. I dare you. Don’t send me an email – post in the comments section! Happy Friday everyone!

Week 5 (St. Louis wedding photographer)

Well, we’re still behind, but we’re also still participating. Yay! Here’s me and my son, Aidan, reading “Blueberries for Sal.” This is part of a weekly photography project to photograph us together every week for a year. It’s actually really challenging because the weeks just fly by! And I also broke my remote. Yup. The one I JUST bought. I am so accident-prone, I tell ya. Off to order another on Amazon. Love that place. Oh, and if you have a child, too, I challenge you to participate, too. I hate having my picture taken, but I do it for Aidan. I think I might make a book at the end of the year with all our pictures.

Stay tuned tomorrow for Sunee’s slideshow!

Week, um….????!!!!! (St. Louis wedding photographers)

I think we missed a week or 2, but I’m trying! Trying counts, right? Here’s our picture of the week. We’re really looking forward to warmer weather so we can try something new with these. I think I should get Dan in some of these, too. Am I right?

A day in the life… (St. Louis kids photographer)

This is a day in the life of my 2-year-old son, Aidan. We did not leave the house today. After our crash yesterday, I had no desire to drive anywhere, so we had an oh-so-exciting day at home. Aidan and I decided to document it for you, out of sheer boredom! ;)

(In Aidan’s words…)

I started the day off riding my horse like a maniac and making one of Mommy’s favorite Aidan faces.

Then it was time for my new favorite show, Dora the Explorer. It’s not really Mommy’s favorite. Too bad for her!

Then she made me put on the mask for my breathing treatments. That was not much fun, so I just kept taking off my mask.

Then I decided to ponder the meaning of life for a while.

Then mom made me wear this hat and held me hostage for a few pictures in my room. My girlfriend, Katherine, gave me this hat when we lived in Texas.

After that, Mommy got in a special shot of the 2 of us for our 52-week challenge. This is week 3. We’re a little behind, but we’re still hanging in there!

Then I was getting really tired at the end of the day, and Mommy went in my room to get my jammies. In those 5 seconds, I decided to help make coffee. I think I made a little mess. Do you think she’ll notice? Then I snuck off to bed. Night, night people…

Week 2: Aidan and Me (St. Louis children’s photographer)

A sleepy Aidan is a snuggly Aidan. And it’s the ONLY time he will cuddle like this. I live for these moments.

52 weeks: Aidan and me

I’m giving this a go again. Hopefully I’ll do better this year than last year. The objective is to take a picture of the 2 of us every week for 52 weeks. Here we go with week 1. Hopefully I’ll make it to week 2!

(And no, he really wasn’t picking his nose! Sorry this was the best of the bunch. Working a self-timer is HARD work, but I have a remote on the way!)
