This one’s for Heleena!

Poor Aidan has really been neglected on the blog lately, poor guy! He doesn’t much like having his picture taken anymore. He usually runs away from the camera. However, I captured this little gem when he was trying to get into a shoot I was doing with another child. Technically, it’s so not great. But when my lil man gives me a smile like that, I could care less! I’m just glad to have captured it. Can you see the mischief in his eyes? I think he gets it from his Dada. Am I right?!

Waiting for baby

Just wanted to put a little update on the blog because I’m a little out of the loop. My sister is having a baby, and there have been some complications. Please keep her + the baby in your thoughts/prayers. They could use them. Thanks! I promise I’ll start returning emails as soon as I can. Sorry!

Here she’s killing time reading People Magazine.

Sweetness

Usually my son is the sweetest guy around. But for many weeks, that was NOT the case. He was crabby, whiney, angry and restless. And he would not sleep. I’m so happy to say, it’s all over. And now he has all his 2-year molars. Poor guy had ALL of them come in at the same time. How cruel is that?! I’m so glad to have my sweet, smiley little guy back. Oh, how I’ve missed him. And who doesn’t love a little extra sleep?

I still have to trick him to take a photo of them. He’s really over the camera. Now he always says, “No more mama’s camera!!!!” I’m hoping he outgrows it soon because my camera isn’t going anywhere.

Re-enlistment at Busch Stadium (St. Louis photographer)

Last week, Dan, Aidan and I had a great opportunity to go on the field at Busch Stadium where a Navy friend of Dan’s re-enlisted in front of everyone. It was a super cool experience, and I was thrilled he asked us to go! Dan + Tom met back when they were deployed to GITMO and have stayed in contact. It helps that Tom is stationed in St. Louis…Aidan REALLY loved meeting Fred Bird, and squealed every time he came by. Lots of hi-fives were had.

Dan and I took Aidan to a Cards game last year, but it was just for a few innings. He really didn’t enjoy being confined in a seat. This game probably would have been similar, except Aidan didn’t get a nap and was exhausted. It made for a much easier time for mom and dad. LOL. We made it through about 6 innings and then had to leave, but Aidan still talks about the game. “Member went to baseball game?” he asks. Oh yes, I do. It’s so great to experience these moments with my son. Even though the stadium is new, the experience is the same, and I always loved going to baseball games as a child. Sitting there with my wonderful husband, my amazing little man, eating hot dogs and enjoying an afternoon Cardinals game….What more could I ask for? Not much, I tell you. That’s my kind of day. Especially when the Redbirds win! Go Cards! And congrats to Tom!

Backtracking….(St. Louis wedding photographer)

You may have noticed that when I get busy on the business side, my personal stuff takes a backseat. And that may be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who YOU are. ;) BUT, I couldn’t NOT post a photo of my handsome little guy on his easter egg hunt. All by himself. Poor guy. Next year, hopefully we can find some friends to hunt with him. And can I just say that I love “little man” outfits?!

And here are my brother and sister doing what they do best. Act crazy. Bwhaahahahahahaha. Love you guys!

Family picture time (St. Louis weddings)

I hope everyone had a great Easter! Things have been a little nuts here, so I’m late putting up pictures. Here’s a quick one of our little family. We haven’t had a picture together in ages. I can’t even get Aidan to do our weekly take-a-pic challenge because he just screams, “No more mama cam-ra!” He wasn’t smiling for this one, but at least he was screaming, either. Easter egg hunt pics will be up tonight.

On a quick business note, I’m just about booked for weddings in September and October. It’s going to be a crazy 2 months! I only have 1 date available in each month, so if you’re thinking contacting me, please do it soon! :) I really hate to turn people away.

My lil sweetheart (St. Louis wedding photographers)

Yesterday, I had a really awesome shoot with my niece, Kelsey. And guess who got to come along? Mr. Aidan. And did he cooperate in the slightest? Uh, nope. I even bribed him with an icee, hence the purple lips. I even had him secured in his stroller, but he managed to escape every single time. Grrr. He’s lucky he’s cute!

Oh, and you may notice the new ‘do. Right before I left for Indy, he decided to climb up on a stool in the kitchen to get Daddy’s gum. And that gum ended up in his hair. I couldn’t be too mad though. I did that a million times when I was a kid, too.

Newborn super sneak peek (St. Louis baby photographer)

What a crazy, fun week this has been! I had my trip to Indianapolis, several meetings with brides, and today I had a newborn shoot with an ADORABLE baby girl. Needless to say, my schedule has been all mixed up, and I’m not doing so well with eating right and exercising. I went to the gym only once, and that was in Indy at the hotel. In my defense, though, I did sprain my knee last week during my team workout, so that’s made it super difficult to do much of anything. I’ve decided I’m not even going to weigh in this week, BUT, tomorrow I’m getting back on track. Promise.

Now, on to baby fever. This little sweetie is 5 weeks old, and let me tell you, she gave her mom, her dad and me a run for our money this afternoon. She has colic and did not want to sleep. She wanted to cry. I felt SO bad because she and her parents drove in all the way from Kansas City to get her picture taken. Thankgoodness her parents were patient enough to stick it out for many hours, because at the VERY end of the day, she decided to cooperate and take a nap. And those pictures turned out to be the best ones of the day. I’ll have more tomorrow, but for now, I’m going to post one and then go pass out in my bed after a crazy week. Happy Friday all…

Half way there (St. Louis wedding photographers)

This completes week 4 of my gym challenge. Go pink team! :) I can really feel myself getting stronger, and I’m able to do SO much more than I was just 4 weeks ago. It’s incredible! They have a fitness evaluation they do at 4 weeks, and I’m really excited to see how much I’ve improved…This week I lost another 3 pounds, so I’m down 14 pounds in 4 weeks. I was hoping to lose 20 during the challenge, so I’m exceeding that by far, and I’m so happy! Everyone is super supportive, and it makes things that much easier. Especially Dan, who is forced to eat nothing but healthy foods, at least when he’s around me. That’s ok. It’s good for him – right?!

My tip for this week is eat SNACKS. I think that’s the most important change I’ve made during the past 4 weeks that I’ve never done. Kashi makes fabulous tasting snack bars. They only have 100 calories, and they have plenty of fiber and protein. I usually have 3 snacks a day. One after breakfast, one after lunch, and one after dinner. (Usually 2 hours after a meal.) Other snacks that I enjoy are celery sticks w/ Laughing Cow Cheese, carrot sticks w/hummus, and those frozen veggie bags that you just pop in the microwave – I usually eat the broccoli and cheese ones. YUM. Aidan loves those, too. These snacks have made it really easy to drastically cut my calories and to still not be hungry. It really does work! Some days, when I’m in the gym 2 hours and I’ve done a LOT of cardio, I have extra calories because I’m STARVING. I’m not all about starving, so I eat a little extra. So, there you have it. My weekly health tip. It works for me, and I hope it works for you, too!

What about my blog readers??? What changes have you made that help you to lose weight?

And, here’s your regularly scheduled dose of Aidan. Happy Friday!

Week 3

Well, it’s that time again. Weekly weigh-in time. You thought I forgot, didn’t you! I had trekking class, met with my trainer, and then we weighed in. I’m down 3 pounds this week, for a total of 11 pounds in 3 weeks. I’ll take it! It’s been extra hard now that Dan is home. He’s so NOT on the wagon, but I’m trying to get him there. We’ll see how that goes. I think we’re going to hit up a spinning class next week. He used to go all the time when he was deployed, but I’ve never been. I was talking to one of the trainers who leads the class, and she said you can burn 1,000 calories in an hour-long class. Um, I’m guessing it’s way harder than it looks?!
So, I was trying to come up with a good weekly tip that has helped me out, and I was having a hard time with it this week. So, how about a tip for kids instead. All kids like pizza. Even Aidan. He was introduced to pizza about 2 months ago, unfortunately. (Yeah, he’s forced to eat healthy foods, too! No more pizza.) And Dan actually shared this tip with me. HisĀ  mom fed him this as a child, too. Just take an english muffin (we only use whole wheat), then put a little marinara sauce (we make our own, so there’s no extra sugar), and then top with low fat mozerella cheese, and toppings if you’d like, and put it in the toaster oven until it’s melted to your liking. Aidan LOVES it. And he doesn’t even know it’s any different than the real pizza. This little treat is also really good if you’re in a hurry for lunch, like when we come home from swim classes and Aidan’s screaming, “Bites! PLEASE?!” That’s when I pop one of those suckers in the toaster oven.

And…here’s a quick pic of the little guy. Have a great weekend everybody!
