Sunee: St. Louis newborn photography

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing 5-week-old Sunee! (How adorable is that name?!) Her mama, Casey, was in many of the photos as a present to her husband. I hope they both love them!

S t r e t c h !!!!

She is SO alert!

The following 2 photographs were taken in their backyard. It’s amazing! Of course it should be, Casey’s hubby owns a landscaping business.

I should pay them to do sessions with my clients in their backyard. ;) It’s just that pretty.

I don’t think their dog was too thrilled about the photo session.

Milk coma.

Fun in a tutu.

And I’ll leave you with one sweet sleepy shot.

Baby Clayton’s 1st birthday (St. Louis baby photographer)

If you’re a longtime blog reader, you’ll remember when this lil guy was born. He’s my sister’s miracle baby, and he just turned a year old. Unbelievable. I can’t even believe it’s been a year since I documented his arrival into this world. Happy Birthday Baby Clayton!

Just a little mess.

Aidan always loves a good party. Especially when cake is involved.

Right in the eye. Oh boy.

All the kids want the baby toys.

New sample album (St. Louis wedding photographer)

I love this album. I have been anxiously awaiting its arrival for what seems like forever, although I must say this new company I tried out is SUPER fast. A little disclaimer before looking at the photos: I am a horrible product photographer! I did not do this album justice, so you’ll just have to set up a meeting with me to see it in person. Haha!

It’s a pearl leather cover, with a metallic cameo cover. It’s so beautiful and elegant. If you’re a current client and haven’t ordered your album yet, you should seriously consider upgrading your album. The cameo just really adds something spectacular, and the 12×12 size is just phenomenal. I highly recommend it!

This flushmount album is SO well made.

Here’s a sample of my design. I like the images to do the talking, so I go for clean + modern layouts.

I love to design albums with at least 2 full spreads. They rock my world!

PS Don’t forget to check out the Engagement Session contest in yesterday’s post!

St. Louis newborn photography: Meet Miss Lily

A good friend from college just had her sweet baby girl, Lily, and I was lucky enough to be asked to do her newborn shoot. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance. So this afternoon, Miss Lily gave me a run for my money, but we all outlasted her. Who new a 5-day-old baby could stay awake for so long?! Here’s a quick sneak peek!

Kaitlyn: Portraits Sneak Peek (St. Louis childrens photographer)

Early this morning, I had a session with one of my favorite families…including their adorable 1-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn. I photographed her when she was about 3 months old, and WOW has she changed. Here’s one of my favorites of the day.

The birth of Clayton (St. Louis birth photographer)

My nephew, Clayton Archer Teeter, was born on 5.28.09. He’s a miracle baby. After many complications throughout my sister’s pregnancy, we were all so thrilled to meet this amazing little guy. And I was even more thrilled to be there and see him make his entrance into the world. This is her 6th, yes, that’s not a typo, child. She’s an amazing mom, and I guess after that many children, you’re down for anything. She’s been gracious enough to let me share this with the readers of my blog. I’m SO excited to post this. Thanks for watching.

(And yes, I can do this for clients, too. Contact me for more information.)

Heather + Dan : An engagement session (St. Louis wedding photographer)

We had gorgeous weather for this engagement session on Saturday. Heather + Dan wanted their engagement pictures taken in Forest Park, so we spent 2 hours making our way all across the park! Good thing I brought my walking shoes! (My trainer, Tracy, would be SO proud.)  We hit up the Muny, Art Hill, The World’s Fair Pavillion and random places along the way. These 2 are so much in love, and they were laughing and kissing the ENTIRE time. Seriously. I had a blast on this shoot, and I can’t wait for their wedding next month. I’ll see you 2 soon!

See daddy? (St. Louis wedding photographer)

That’s what I heard all day from Mr. Aidan. Such is the life of a military family, I suppose. To say that I’m a military wife is still so odd to me because I was the active-duty soldier for so many years. I’m the “dependent” now, and I can’t tell you how excited Dan is that I have that title rather than him. Well today was our first full day without Dan. He left for Japan bright and early this morning for about 2.5 weeks for his yearly AT. I’m still waiting to hear from him, to hear that he made it safely. To say that he’s not fond of flying is a complete understatement, but I’m hoping it was a relatively comfortable, safe flight for him. Otherwise, I pitty the person sitting next to him on the plane. Hopefully I’ll have an update for you tomorrow. In the meantime, Aidan and I are trying to stay busy. Today we went to the gym (he’s finally doing well in the nursery! Not nearly as much crying…), then we started the next semester of swimming lessons, and we even made it to the park before the rain hit! I’m about to embark on something really fun and challenging, but I’ll save that post for later. I’ll give you a hint by saying I’ll get a free t-shirt out of the deal.

And what’s a post without a picture. Hope you don’t mind a few more of my little guy. He’s growing up before my very eyes. Every day I tell him, “No more growing, Aidan!” And he says, “No. No. No growing!” Cute little mocking bird that he is.

Flashback

It’s absolutely incredible to sit back and contemplate all that has happened to my family in the past year. It’s been quite a year. Quite a good year. We’ve been so blessed in so many ways. It’s nearing the 1-year mark that Aidan and I made the difficult journey alone from Texas to St. Louis after I left the Army. I was telling Dan just today that my military life seems so far in the past. It seems decades ago – strange how that happens. Then a few months later, Dan returned from his deployment after nearly 16 months of being away. I can’t even begin to describe the feeling of having your husband/best friend/father of your child return after such a long absence. It’s been a huge adjustment for all 3 of us, but it’s definitely a welcome change.

We still cherish every single moment we have together because we understand what it is to be a family only from a distance. Aidan was a mere 6 weeks old when Dan left. He probably only weighed about 8 pounds, I would guess. Now he’s walking, talking, running, occasionally peeing on the potty (more on that later) and weighs in at a strapping 38 pounds at the age of 2. (EEK!) Dan found a job rather quickly upon arriving in St. Louis, especially considering the job market here. Then after staying with my mom and sister, we finally settled into a place of our own. We’re making a life here, and I’m incredibly grateful to have friends and family to support us. I know this next year has even better things in store for us. (Obviously! I have so many wonderful couples that I’m working with, and they’re all going to be fabulous weddings that I can’t WAIT to photograph.

And in honor of this little flashback – a sneak peek into our lives during the past year – here’s our wonderful son from a year ago. Oh how he has changed. (He has hair and teeth and that same crazy smile!) He truly is the most amazing thing to ever happen to me.

New new bed

That’s what Aidan calls his new toddler bed. (Not just one “new” – there must be 2! And he loves to jump in it. Too bad he doesn’t really like to sleep in it, but we’re working on that. I snapped a few shots a couple of nights ago after bathtime because I’ve been owing them to my mother-in-law, Heleena, for a billion years. You see, she bought Aidan his beloved “Bar Bar” doll. (Sorry, I know you all thought we were done with the Barney posts, right?) Now he esentially sleeps with a zoo in his bed. He has Ben, the golden retriever that resembles John and Heleena’s dog, “Cam Cam” the camel his aunt Rachel brought him all the way from Israel, he has “Hor” which Dan and I bought him on a trip to Grant’s Farm, and “Pan Pan” a panda bear that aunt Rachel gave him when he was itty bitty. Needless to say, there’s not much room for a giant Aidan! But he will not go to bed unless every.single.one of his friends is in his bed! And sometimes in the morning, Aidan and his crew join mommy and daddy in their bed, too. I’m thinking we need a king size bed!

We’ve been dealing with some NASTY weather here in Missouri. The roads are slushy and sometimes icy. It’s been a very long time since I’ve had to deal with weather like this. But I must say it’s a nice change from the disgustingly hot weather of Texas. And Aidan loves to play in the snow, so that’s a nice bonus. Tonight, Dan and I ventured out with Aidan and our nephew, Brody, who is about 16 months old. My sister, Michelle, has been in the hospital after discovering a huge blood clot that ran the entire length of her leg. It’s been a very, very scary time, but she is doing much better, and after nearly a week in the hospital, was released tonight. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She could really use them. Thanks.

Baby on the way!!!!

No not me, you crazy people. My friend Janine is in the hospital being induced as I write this post. Baby Orf could be arriving in just a few hours, and I’m going to be heading to the hospital to shoot some photos of the brand new baby. I can’t wait to find out what she’s having and what they name the baby! Eeeeeeekkkk! I’ll post at least one sometime tomorrow. I hope she has an easy birth!

It’s canvas time!

I’m so excited it’s here! It feels like I’ve been waiting forever, when in reality, it was less than a week. Super fast! This is my very first canvas, and I must say, it definitely will not be my last. They’re expensive but absolutely gorgeous! I love that I got to try out a new product with my handsome son, Aidan. It’s a 20×30 canvas, and I have lots of shots from every angle just so you can really appreciate all the details.

Here’s what the original image looked like.

Full shot looking into the dining room from the living room.

This is a closeup of the wrapped edges. There’s a little bit of a scuff mark on it, but that was from me hanging it up before I actually took the pictures of it. Should have done that BEFORE hanging, right?!

The texture of the canvas…

Here’s the hardware that was a small extra charge, but it makes it super easy to hang!

The subject with the canvas. He’s looking a little scruffy here because he had just woken up from his nap! Notice the crazy hair. Oh, and please excuse the really terrible light in our living room.

And here it is looking lovely on our wall. I completely, totally love it. I can’t wait to buy more. :) Don’t tell Dan.
