Meghan + Joel: Mount Pleasant Estates Wedding

I’m finally catching up (phew!), so I figured I would get caught up on the blog, too. If you’ve been following my blog for anytime at all, you know outdoor weddings are my absolute favorite. Meghan and Joel were married out at Mount Pleasant Estates in October, and the day was absolute perfection. Meghan and Joel, thank you so much for including me in your beautiful day. I hope you had an amazing honeymoon in Turks and Caicos! (jealous!)

Love, love, love the colors and tangerine theme. Gorgeous + unique!

How beautiful does she look in her dress?! I love how happy she is. And I love her veil. So pretty.

Meghan, you are so lovely!

Waiting for his bride…

Got me!

Christina + Justin: 9th Street Abbey Wedding

I love to have engagement sessions with my clients. It gives us time to get to know each other, especially if we didn’t have an initial consultation, which happens when out of town couples book me over the phone/internet. With Christina + Justin, I had neither, which always makes me a little nervous. Meeting on the wedding day is always very interesting because I have no idea what to expect. Lucky for me, this great couple were really natural in front of my camera and a joy to be around. Everybody was so happy and so kind, and I had a really wonderful time documenting their wedding day.

If you have never been to the 9th Street Abbey, you are seriously missing out. The outdoor space is like a fairytale, which is why Christina + Justin had their first look out there.

Isn’t it just an amazing venue?

We did all the portraits before the ceremony so the guests didn’t have to wait between the ceremony and reception, which were both held at the 9th Street Abbey.

I was so thankful for this wall. It pretty much rocked.

Leave it to a little boy to make a bouquet into a gun. :) Reminds me of my little 4-year-old.

Great shot by my wonderful second shooter, Paula. :) Love their expressions.

My second shooter, Paula, grabbed this beautiful balcony shot.

How adorable are these 2? They had an audience while they were dancing the night away.

Love this shot of the bridesmaids that my second shooter, Paula grabbed.

Lauren + Dan: The Vineyard at Riverbend Wedding

If you’ve ever been to my blog before, you know I LOVE outdoor weddings, especially when they take place at a vineyard. It’s such a magical, romantic type of venue. Their ceremony took place at sunset, and I couldn’t have planned the day any better. Congrats Lauren + Dan. It was an amazing wedding. :)

Allie + Jon: Tower Grove engagement session

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been shooting a LOT out at Tower Grove Park. But that’s ok by me – the light’s always beautiful, and it’s so big that there are always new places to discover! Allie + Jon, thanks for bringing so many of your own ideas and so much energy to your engagement session. I had a blast and am really looking for your wedding in October!

Lauren + Grant: Love session

Grant and Lauren have been married for 5 years, but they rarely take pictures of themselves. Lauren, a photographer herself, has been wanting to get some photos of the 2 of them for a while. Grant, well, he’s pretty much the opposite of Lauren, they say. He’s never in pictures, always puts his hand in front of the camera, etc. I feel honored that he allowed me to photograph him and his wife. They’re going to make some super cute babies one day!

Dianna + Dan: Forest Park Engagement Session

Dianna and Dan are an incredibly sweet, fun couple. I had so much fun hanging out with them at Forest Park. They drove in all the way from Decatur, IL for the shoot and are getting married next May in Bermuda. How awesome is that?! We had great weather for our shoot, and some pretty sweet light popping in and out. I hope you enjoy their images as much as I did.

Ten on Tuesday

1. Last week, Aidan had to bring in Valentine’s cards for his class. And he had to write his own name. This would have been fine, except Aidan goes for extended day, too, so he had to have enough for 2 classes. That means 32 cards. That means writing his name 32 times. We tried REALLY hard to start early, and we did. We went with 3 a day – that was all he could handle until he got bored. Mommy confession of the week: I filled out many of them myself. Don’t judge me. Please?!

2. If you didn’t already catch this in another post, I have decided to cloth diaper baby Welch #2. I’m not sure when that decision came about. Probably just in the last 2 months. Anyway, my favorite cloth diapering store, Cotton Babies, (which is local for all you STL people) has a really great campaign going called Change 3 Things: A Cloth Diaper Revolution. Basically it’s a challenge to ALL parents to commit to 3 cloth diapers per day, saving the environment from a bazillion disposables in the landfill and keeping a little moolah in your pocket. Win-win.

3. Found this in my Google Reader today. Totally made me feel better about myself. Hooray for keeping things real.

4. Albums have started to come in this week. I’ll have a blog post in the next day or 2! I love showing off beautiful albums.

5. About 6.5 weeks until my due date. FREAKING. OUT.

6. Aidan is obsessed with superheros and My Little Pony. Great combination, if I do say so myself…Although I’m partial to MLP.

7. I’m thinking about starting a weekly wedding tips post…If there’s anything you would like a photographer’s perspective on, please shoot me an email!

8. My sister is having baby #7 next week. EEEEEEKKKK. Another boy. So many boys everywhere!

9. I’m really hoping the Cardinals wrap up this Pujols deal. The Cards would NOT be the same without him.

10. Loving this warmer weather. Enough said.

And because a blog post is more fun with a photo: here’s Aidan’s surprised face. Love that guy.

Lori + Shawn: St. Louis Wedding Photography

This was my very last wedding of the year! And it was a great one. Lori and I had been emailing for what seems like years before she and Shawn were able to set their date. We had been in contact for such a long time before they had booked, I felt I really knew them well before we ever met. Their wedding took place in early November, when the leaves were still beautiful, though there was a deep chill in the air. (I didn’t mind, I much prefer shooting in the cold than the heat, especially pregnant…)

One thing that stuck out in my mind with Lori is that she is so vibrant. I think you always know what she’s thinking because she wears her heart on her sleeve. And on this day, her wedding day, she was full of joy. And let me tell you, she was a joy to photography.

Lori and Shawn, you guys are one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever photograph. Thank you so much for including me in your day. It was beautiful!

Her dress was amazing.

A lil bling.

Elizabeth + Ben: St. Louis Engagement Photography

We were so incredibly lucky on the day of this shoot. The leaves were still hanging on, and the light in Tower Grove was PERFECTION. I seriously have never seen light that beautiful. Thanks you two, for a fabulous shoot! I will see you in May. :)

I never shoot with any sort of external lighting at engagement sessions. That would have been tough because we had to do a little shooting in the dark. Luckily, the City Garden had some great lights to use. I’m digging the dramatic look of this one.

Kristin + Jed: Chesterfield Engagement Session

I may have mentioned that fall is absolutely my favorites season, and I really love shooting engagement sessions when the leaves are still on the trees and full of beautiful, amazing colors. I have had a LOT of engagement sessions during the past month, but it’s been a blast just the same. I have had some really great couples hire me, and I’m looking forward to some fabulous weddings next year. Kristin and Jed are getting married at Olive on the Hill, and I can’t wait!!! It looks absolutely gorgeous.

For now, their engagement pictures…

I think Kristin needs to be a hair product model. Her hair is amazing! I think I love this shot because it shows it off!

Love the colors in this one. Fall rocks.

Lauren + Dave: St. Charles Engagement Photography

I shot Lauren and Dave’s engagement session in St. Charles a few weeks ago. They’re a referral from one of my favorite 2010 brides, Katie. I really enjoyed our session because not only are Lauren and Dan one of the nicest couples I’ve ever met, the light and colors in Old Town St. Charles were PERFECT. I’m so glad we didn’t miss the beauty of the fall.

Looking forward to your September wedding next year!!

Gretchen + Lenny: Day After Session

We didn’t have much time for portraits on their wedding day, so Gretchen + Lenny asked if we could do a “day after” session, one of my favorite kinds of shoots! It’s so much fun to have a couple in their wedding attire, but they’re always more relaxed, and we have PLENTY of time.

They chose a pumpkin patch in Chesterfield first, and then we headed back over to the ceremony site in Wentzville.

Sarah + Todd: Farmington Wedding Photographer

Sarah and Todd were married on a very hot, beautiful October day. Every little detail of their day was fabulous. From the jewelry, to the tuxes, to her dress and the cake. My favorite part of the day? Hands down, when they jumped up on a hay bale right before the reception. Thanks to Sarah and Todd for rocking out those portraits!!!
