Love,
Aidan

Poor little Aidan had a simple little cold – a runny nose + cough for just a day. I dropped him off at my mom’s house while I met several clients yesterday, and I came back to pick him up and he was wheezing and coughing up a storm. We brought him home and gave him a breathing treatment and put him to bed. It’s been nearly a year since he’s had any treatments or medications – that’s one of the lovely benefits of staying home with him versus sending him to daycare. There aren’t any little kids to catch colds from. Well Dan and I have joined a gym, and Aidan has started going to the gym while we workout, and I’m assuming he caught a cold from one of the children there. Aidan’s colds quickly turn much worse because he has asthma.
At about 10 he woke up gasping for breath, crying and shaking. It was a mother’s worst nightmare. We quickly gave him another breathing treatment and took off for the ER. We were there several hours while they gave him some steroids, more breathing treatments and monitored him. We were an exhausted family when we arrived home at about 3 a.m.
This morning we refilled his prescription, and he seems to be doing pretty well. But it was a very scary night for all of us. He hasn’t had an episode like this since I was alone with him in Texas when he was about 7 weeks old and Dan was deployed. I was so glad to have him with me last night. So keep our little guy in your thoughts.
I know I owe several of you emails and phone calls, and I promise I’ll be taking care of all that later this evening. Plus, I’ll have little Kendall’s photos up, too.
Hope everyone had a great, safe weekend. Stay warm.

I’m giving this a go again. Hopefully I’ll do better this year than last year. The objective is to take a picture of the 2 of us every week for 52 weeks. Here we go with week 1. Hopefully I’ll make it to week 2!
(And no, he really wasn’t picking his nose! Sorry this was the best of the bunch. Working a self-timer is HARD work, but I have a remote on the way!)

I’m such a slacker. Christmas, Aidan’s 2nd birthday, and New Years have passed, and I haven’t posted a single picture! I’m sorry. We’re just trying to get organized after all the chaos. We packed up all the decorations, well, except the tree, today. We’ve organized Aidan’s gazillion toys that have been scattered about, and so I decided to jump on the computer just for a second to show you a picture from my little man’s party. It was a small party, and I have to admit, it was hastily thrown together because of all the Christmas madness. I feel so bad that Aidan’s birthday is just 3 days after Christmas. Hopefully he doesn’t hate us when he’s older. Although, my water did break on the 27th, so it could have been 2 days after Christmas. That would have been even worse! Next year, Dan and I decided we’ll definitely do Christmas planning MUCH earlier. That way we have more time to focus on Aidan. This year, Dan was complaining about all the early Christmas decorating and sales he saw. Now he understands, and that’s going to be us next year. (Hopefully!)
I promise to post more, but here’s just one photo. It cracks me up because he’s staring so intently at the candle on his Diego cake. I still can’t believe he’s already 2! And have I mentioned that he can count to 5? He just did that yesterday. I couldn’t believe it. We constantly work on numbers and colors, but he often seems confused by it all. Well today, he counted mommy’s fingers! (On one hand. Yes, I do have a total of 10 fingers!
) Now we’re working on 6-10.

Aidan’s first trip to sit on Santa’s lap was a total success! I was a tad bit worried he wouldn’t do it, but he did!
And thanks to my mom, he had a fabulous little red sweater from Gymboree for his cheesy mall picture. (They don’t allow professional cameras. Grrrr.) Every day, my son amazes me. When he went to sit on Santa’s lap, he asked Aidan what he wanted for Christmas, and he told him, “A new, new truck!” It was hysterical. Just so adorable that I could eat him up! And what a great Santa they had! He was very fragile looking, I actually thought Aidan might hurt him. The child is so heavy. He was a little worried at first, but Santa started talking to him quietly, and Aidan was completely fine. I love Christmas. It’s amazing to see it through my son’s eyes. And in case you’re wondering, we didn’t make it to see Santa last year because Dan couldn’t go with us because he was deployed. I didn’t want him to miss such a great moment, and he didn’t have to.
I’m so thankful that the 3 of us are together now.
