Natalie + Kevin: St. Louis engagement photography

This was a fun one, you guys. Not only did we have a gloriously beautiful day at one of my favorite St. Louis parks with wonderful autumn colors, but this GORGEOUS couple brought along their handsome, 1 year-old Mason. Doesn’t get much better than that! This family was so sweet, and there is so much love between them. I’m pretty darn sure you’ll be able to see it in the pictures. Natalie – thank you for choosing me to be your photographer. I can’t WAIT for your St. Patrick’s Day wedding next year.

Brynne + Joel: Missouri Botanical Gardens Engagement

The day we were supposed to shoot this engagement session, it was POURING rain. The next day, the weather didn’t look much better -a gray, hazy day with threatening thunderstorms. We shot anyway because they were from out of town and had to drive back that day. We just had to make it work! Luckily, the sun ended up peeking out from some clouds, and we ended up having some pretty sweet light. We were SO lucky! You’ll be seeing more of these beautiful people after their 2012 wedding. I’m really looking forward to it!

All I have to say about this session is that it was hands down one of my favorites. Ever. Can’t wait for their wedding next year!

I’m getting my gear together and hydrating for what is supposed to be VERY warm weather during tomorrow’s wedding, but I wanted to leave you with a sneak peek from a really amazing session I had this week. It’s going to be SO hard to narrow the full blog post down. Check back Monday for Grace and Kent’s wedding, and the full post from this engagement shoot will be up next week, too!

Dianna + Dan: Forest Park Engagement Session

Dianna and Dan are an incredibly sweet, fun couple. I had so much fun hanging out with them at Forest Park. They drove in all the way from Decatur, IL for the shoot and are getting married next May in Bermuda. How awesome is that?! We had great weather for our shoot, and some pretty sweet light popping in and out. I hope you enjoy their images as much as I did.

Kerri + Adam: St. Louis engagement session

These two chose Washington Avenue for the location of their engagement session. It also just so happens to be where they live! Urban shoots are so much fun, and it had been a while since I had shot on Washington. Needless to say, it’s always fun because there are always new locations to discover. Including this first shot, which is a place I’ve been wanting to shoot for two years. I finally got the opportunity.

Thanks, Kerri + Adam, for a great shoot! I can’t wait for your October wedding. :)

Julie + Patrick: St. Louis engagement session

What a great way to break back into shooting! An engagement session with someone I knew as a little girl, and now has turned into a beautiful woman getting married. Julie + Patrick met in San Antonio while both were working for the Air Force. These beautiful people are getting married on a cruise this July. Though I’m not able to shoot their wedding, I was thrilled when Julie asked if I would be able to shoot their engagement session during a visit to St. Louis. We had some beautiful, warm weather for my first shoot of the year (bye, bye maternity leave!). I love some pretty, warm light. Enjoy.

2010 Year in Review/Contest

So here we are. A month into 2011, and it’s still hard to believe 2010 is O V E R. It went fast, and it was busy. I took on more weddings than I anticipated, but they were each unique and beautiful in their own ways. I’m so honored to have been a part of so many weddings and to do what I truly love to do…Not to mention adding a few engagement sessions, family/baby shoots and a handful of day-after shoots as well. It was a good year. It was a GREAT YEAR. Thank you to all my amazing clients for making it great.

To cap off such an amazing year for me and my business, I wanted to throw in a little end-of-the-year contest. An “image of the year” contest. There are TWO ways to win. First, if you were a client of mine during 2010, you have the opportunity to win a beautiful, 16×20 mounted print! And if you’re not a client, that’s ok. You have the opportunity to win a $15 Starbucks (or Target if you’re not a coffee drinker) gift card just for voting in the contest. Votes are counted by actual comments, so you have to tell me WHY you are voting for the image. One little teeny, tiny stipulation is that you MUST be a fan on Facebook to win. Yes, I am totally bribing you. Click HERE to “like” my Facebook business page.

Here’s everything you need to know to enter:

- every session I shot during 2010 is represented here

- each individual can only leave one comment per image (it can just be that the picture is of your grandchild – that’s enough for me!)

- The corresponding number for each image is located ABOVE the photograph.

- the contest is open NOW and will last 2 weeks

- the winner of the print will have the most comments on an image from their session or wedding

- the winner of the gift card will be chosen at random from the comments linked to the winning image

- both winners will be announced on February 14, 2011

- you are allowed to comment on your own photograph(s)

- when leaving your comments, don’t forget to leave the category you are voting for as well as the image number!!!

And here are the images:

Elizabeth + Ben: St. Louis Engagement Photography

We were so incredibly lucky on the day of this shoot. The leaves were still hanging on, and the light in Tower Grove was PERFECTION. I seriously have never seen light that beautiful. Thanks you two, for a fabulous shoot! I will see you in May. :)

I never shoot with any sort of external lighting at engagement sessions. That would have been tough because we had to do a little shooting in the dark. Luckily, the City Garden had some great lights to use. I’m digging the dramatic look of this one.

Kristin + Jed: Chesterfield Engagement Session

I may have mentioned that fall is absolutely my favorites season, and I really love shooting engagement sessions when the leaves are still on the trees and full of beautiful, amazing colors. I have had a LOT of engagement sessions during the past month, but it’s been a blast just the same. I have had some really great couples hire me, and I’m looking forward to some fabulous weddings next year. Kristin and Jed are getting married at Olive on the Hill, and I can’t wait!!! It looks absolutely gorgeous.

For now, their engagement pictures…

I think Kristin needs to be a hair product model. Her hair is amazing! I think I love this shot because it shows it off!

Love the colors in this one. Fall rocks.

Kristin + Greg: Chesterfield Engagement Session

What do you get when you mix a beautiful girl, a Marine and a pumpkin patch? A really fun, unique engagement session!

Kristin and Greg picked Rombach’s Farm for their engagement session, and I was so excited to shoot there. I have never shot at a pumpkin patch before! I had a good friend who wanted to shoot out there last year, but the rain ruined those plans…

Greg has been in the Marines for a few years now. He just got back from a deployment to Iraq, and now they’re sending him to Afghanistan, and somewhere in there, he and Kristin are getting married. So please keep him in your thoughts and prayers during his journey.

And on to the pictures…

They are so sweet together.

Love this one.

Thanks again for such a fun shoot! I wish you 2 all the best.
