I photographed my first wedding of 2010 over the weekend! I’m just going to let the photos do most of the talking! Thanks for looking.
Ceremony/reception: Marriott St. Louis Airport
Cake: Wedding Wonderland
Lighting/Design: Millennium Design
DJ: Millennium Music

First look!

I thought Millennium Design did a FABULOUS job with this wedding. The reception setup looked amazing.

This shot was cracking me up as I took it! Watch out for the paparazzi!

What’s a wedding without the duck dance? They said they played it for the flower girls (nieces). Uh huh. Suuuuure.

Tiffany + Mark – I had a wonderful time photographing your wedding. It was a great way to start of the year! I hope you guys are enjoying your honeymoon in the Bahamas!!!

Deanne, Matt and I headed out to Lake St. Louis on a VERY cold Missouri afternoon, but it didn’t stop us from having a great time at their engagement session. One word to describe this couple: ADORABLE. Even my husband says so. Normally he doesn’t really get into the editing part of the business, but he was walking by my iMac when I was editing a few for this blog preview, and he came over and said, “Wow! They’re an adorable couple.” See? Told ya. They’re SO in love, and they love to show it. And that makes for some really great pictures because what photographer doesn’t love a couple that’s so natural in front of the camera? First we headed out to Boulevard Park in Lake St. Louis where they had their first date. (How fun is that?!) And then we headed to the Meadows shopping center for a more urban feel. They chose the locations, and I think they did a fabulous job. It’s always fun to shoot somewhere new, and I strongly suggest couples try to find a location that is meaningful to them for their shoot. It will just make the pictures that much more meaningful down the road. So that’s something to think about for all you couples out there who are doing your engagement pictures next year. What place is special to you? Where do the 2 of you like to go? Where did you have your first date? Just something to think about….
And, are you ready to see this super cute couple? I bet you are!
Love this one. And look at her fab shoes!

FAVE.d

Aaaah. They’re so in love.

Snuggling to stay warm!

They’re cute AND talented. And I really want to know how Deanne’s hair looks amazing. Whether I was making them run, jump, snuggle, dance, it always looked great!

Peek-a-boo!

Sassy!

It was SO hard to cull through their session. I think this gallery is going to have a TON of pictures in it because I just couldn’t chose! These are just some very happy people, and it’s contagious! Can’t wait for the wedding, you two. We’re going to have a GREAT time.

I have had SO many engagement sessions during the past month, and I’m trying my best to get caught up with them on the blog. If I haven’t blogged yours yet, just know it’s coming! Promise!!! And yes, I’m going in the order in which they were shot.
A couple weeks ago, I met Melissa and Scott out at the Lemp Mansion for their engagement session. They had their first date at the Lemp Mansion…How cool is that?! It was for a mystery dinner theater, and I can tell you from personal experience they are super fun. Such a fun first date, I would think…Melissa and Scott were amazing. They were up for anything, they looked amazing, and they are SO sweet, and they picked really great locations for their shoot. What more can a photographer ask for?

After the Lemp Mansion, we headed out to Lafayette Square. It was my first time shooting an engagement session there, even though I’ve always loved that area. Love these colorful storefronts…

And funky green doors…

And Park Avenue Coffee apparently has more than 50 kinds of gooey butter cake. Can you say YUM?! I’m going to have to take Dan there. We LURVE some gooey butter cake. That stuff is seriously like crack…Oh, sorry. I got sidetracked for a minute….This is actually one of my faves from our shoot. And I really love that they actually go here often!

Told you I like to make people run. It’s just plain fun.

And after a quick outfit change…we headed to Lafayette Square Park, where the scenery and colors were just absolutely perfect. I may have mentioned that fall is absolutely my favorite time of year?! Just once or twice, right…

Isn’t she adorable!?

This was my favorite of the day. I couldn’t pick between color and black and white….I’m thinking color now…

Sorry, I can’t help but post a million of them smiling in front of the gorgeous trees!!!

I love their style. They picked the perfect outfits/accessories for both locations. And how sweet are those boots?

And we played at the park for a few minutes before it got dark.

Thanks for looking!!! Can’t wait for your April wedding, Melissa + Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several Saturdays ago, I had the pleasure of traveling to the tiny town of Litchfield, IL. I must say I’m really surprised how many small town Illinois weddings I have photographed this year. It’s been super fun going new places!
Sarah was one of the most laid-back brides EVER. When I had her do a few pics on a couch and a button popped off, she said, “Oh, it’s alright.” When we didn’t have time to do wedding party pics at the park, and I made them do them in front of a door, she said, “Ok, let’s do it.” And finally, when I said I want to photograph you guys in front of a row of vending machines, she said, “Ok. Let’s go!” Now that is trust! How cool is she?! Thanks so much for having me photograph your special day and for being open to anything. Best wishes.
One of my favorite dresses I’ve photographed all year. Just stunning!

I never get tired of the “getting the dress on” pics. Never.

Yay for first looks!!!

I LOVE this idea. Her shoes said “I DO.” And her new last name was Dowdy. So John and WDY on his shoes. Get it?

So we didn’t have a lot of places to take photos, BUT, they had this little coffee room IN the church. How lucky was I?! Score.

Same room. In the church. Love it!

Super cute group of girls, and I LOVED the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses. Perfect for fall!

They are going to make some cute babies one day!

It was crazy dark in the church, which made for some very dramatic lighting…

Ok, I guess it really should just say Elaina. And it should just say “Getting Ready.” Cuz that’s all this post is going to be. Why? Because I said so. Ha ha.
But seriously, I was trying to put together a blog post from John and Elaina’s wedding from 2 weeks ago. Operative word is “TRY.” There are way too many images, so I’m dragging it out into 2 posts. I’ve never done that, but I’m the boss, so I make the rules. Right? Right. Enjoy. Ceremony/reception coming tomorrow!!!!
Elaina got ready at her grandma’s house just down the street from the church. There were a TON of people there, and it was kind of crazy, but I think it was the super fun kind of wedding day chaos.
Let’s start with the shoes. Love them!

I can’t even put my finger on what I love about this image. But I do. And that was enough to post it.

Isn’t she a stunning bride?

Elaina’s dad was so emotional the entire day. I thought it was SO sweet. They both cried when they saw each other.

Believe it or not, this was the first cathedral-length veil I’ve ever had a bride wear. And it was STUNNING.

My second shooter (the fabulous Paula Bathon of Lightsource Photography) and I both had some fun with the huge mirror in Elaina’s grandmother’s house. Here’s her shot. She totally rocked this one!!!!

And here’s mine.

More fun with the veil…And I just have to say, I’ve never seen such a helpful flowergirl!

Her dad was back. And so were the tears…Theirs and mine.

Yeah. They pretty much made me cry all day, but having the chance to document the love of this family was so amazing. They were so wonderful and kind. Thanks to all of them.

A prayer before leaving for the church.

Visit tomorrow for ceremony and reception pictures. It’ll be worth it. Promise.
